Children’s Savings Account

  • Ran Kekulu is the children’s savings account specially designed for the parents who wish to offer a better future for their children. Ran Kekulu account can be opened at any Bank of Ceylon branch island wide by a parent or a guardian for their children below 18 years

  • Scholarships for grade 5 scholarships winners   

 

At the age of 18 years to the child

  • Account will automatically be transferred to 18 plus category

 

Terms and Conditions

  • Bank of Ceylon holds the right to change, add or revise any condition and facilities offered for the Accounts
  • It is advisable to contact your nearest BOC branch or our Call Centre on 1975 for the latest information and prevailing terms and conditions

 

 

 

 

 

1. Higher rate of Interest

Offer 1% higher interest rate than the normal savings account
 

2. Medical Insurance cover for Account Holder

Hospitalization cover up to Rs. 100,000/- per annum is provided in case of accident or 10 critical illnesses.

  • Private Hospital: Actual expenses incurred up to a maximum of Rs: 100,000/- per annum if admitted for 1 night or more

  • Government Hospital: Rs: 600.00 per day for a minimum of 3 days and maximum of 30 days

     

    Terms & Conditions:

- Minimum balance of Rs.5000/- should be continuously maintained for a minimum period of 6 months before incident

- Claims to be submitted to the bank within 6 months of the incident


 

3. Life Insurance cover for Parent/Guardian who opened account

  • 10 times of the balance upto a maximum of Rs. 500,000/- will be paid at the death(Natural/Accident) / Permanent Disability (due to accidents only) of  the Parent/Guardian

  • If the parent/guardian has opened RKG accounts for more than 1 child, maximum of 3 children, they will be eligible for the life insurance cover upto a maximum of Rs. 1Million.

     

Terms & conditions:

- Only the parent/ guardian who opened the account will be eligible for the life insurance cover.

- Minimum balance of Rs.5000/- should be continuously maintained for a minimum period of 6 months before the death of parent/guardian

- Claims to be submitted to the bank within 6 months of the incident


 

4. Scholarships for Grade 5 Scholars

  • 2000 Scholarships for the top talent in Grade 5 Scholarship - Scholarships of Rs. 15,000/- will be awarded for the best scholars

  • All Ran Kekulu Account holders who are successful in the scholarship examination receive valuable gifts.

 

Terms & Conditions:

- No special conditions are applied

- Minimum balance of Rs.5000/- shall be maintained Ran Kekulu Account one day prior to the date of releasing the exam results

Following documents are required at the account opening

  • Original birth certificate of the child together with a photocopy (Original will be returned to the customer by the bank)
  • National Identity card of the parent or Guardian
  • Address proof (If not residing in the same place mentioned in NIC)
